Eyelid Surgery in Alpharetta, GA

If your family and friends are asking you if you are tired, despite being well-rested, it may be time to consider an eyelid surgery, also referred to as blepharoplasty. This surgical procedure will remove loose skin and bulging fat pockets from both the upper and/or lower eyelids.
Sometimes, patients may have a more severe issue, with the upper eyelid becoming droopy and hooded, potentially interfering with vision. Deep wrinkles and bags can affect the lower eyelids.

Eyelid Surgery Consultation
At The Graivier Center, we value our personal relationships with our patients. Each patient is treated as an individual, and as such, is given a personal consultation prior to any treatment. Dr. Graivier and his staff will meet with you to help you make decisions regarding which procedure(s) or treatment(s) will result in achieving your aesthetic goals. The consultation will conclude with a discussion about the desired treatment, your expectations, the benefits and risks associated with the treatment and post-treatment recovery.

Eyelid Surgery Complementary Procedures
It is a common practice for patients undergoing eyelid surgery to combine several procedures at once that will offer complementary or enhanced results. At The Graivier Center, we will take the time to walk potential patients through all of the risks and benefits of each surgery, whether you choose a single treatment or multiple treatments.

Patients undergoing eyelid surgery can elect to combine the following procedures for enhanced results:

  • Brow lift
  • Facelift surgery
  • Facial skin resurfacing

Upper Blepharoplasty:

The excess skin and fat is removed through an incision that falls in the upper eyelid crease and swings gently upward at the outer portion of the upper lid to help alleviate crow’s feet. The incision is barely visible after six months.

Lower Blepharoplasty:
The lower eyelid fat is contoured, not simply removed, as a “sunken” lower eyelid is an older appearing eyelid. The tear trough attachments are released from the inside and fat is repositioned to give the eyelid and the lid-cheek junction a “smoothed” appearance.

Dr. Graivier will carefully make incisions either on the inside of the eyelid or just beyond the lid margins. External lasering to the skin will also tighten wrinkles. Tightening of the lower eyelid muscle is imperative to remove the lower eyelid lines as removing skin alone will simply open the eyes up too much and not give adequate correction of the wrinkles. The eye opening can be reshaped into a more youthful appearance with a tighter lower eyelid and a smooth eyelid/cheek junction.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery
Specific post-operative guidelines will be provided to you prior to your surgery. It is important to follow the guidelines to ensure an uneventful recovery. During your recovery, lubricating ointment and cold compresses will be applied as directed in the written post-operative documents. Initial healing may include some swelling, bruising, irritation or dry eyes. Discomfort can be controlled with medication, cold compresses and lubricating eyedrops. Irritation at the incision sites is also possible. Patients are advised to practice diligent sun protection and use darkly tinted sunglasses until the healing process is fully complete.

Recovery is approximately six days.
