Facial Fillers in Alpharetta, GA

Dr. Graivier is one of the world-recognized leaders in the field of fillers and Botulinum toxins.

Dr Graivier has pioneered the use of facial fillers and Botulinum toxins. The author of numerous scientific papers and lead author of the Aesthetic Surgery Journals’ consensus recommendations for fillers, Dr. Graivier has made numerous teaching videos and lectured worldwide on these techniques: techniques that are universally followed by doctors the world over.

Dr. Graivier was the first physician to use Radiesse®, pioneering the injection techniques of this and other fillers. He has led the evolution of filler concepts and techniques away from simple line/wrinkle filling into a concept of “Volumetry”, which is a global volumetric enhancement using multiplanar techniques. Dr Graivier was one of the first doctors to advocate the use of fillers in the temporal areas and eyebrows. He also authored a chapter in the definitive textbook on nasal surgery on Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty using fillers. Dr. Graivier was the first to use Radiesse for hand rejuvenation, and he has been interviewed numerous times regarding fillers by CNN, Allure Magazine, More Magazine, as well as the New York Times. He has been the representative of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgery to express his views on new fillers to the FDA and to address both the media and Wall Street representatives.

Dr. Graivier has been at the forefront of injection techniques using blunt cannulas, which are much less traumatic and allow relatively little bruising or swelling.

He is also well known for developing and refining usages and techniques to achieve superior results with Botulinum toxins.

As we age, our faces will naturally lose subcutaneous fat, which can make wrinkles more apparent. Sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle can also have an effect. Facial fillers (also called dermal fillers) can help restore volume and fullness to the face. Most commonly, facial fillers are used to: plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, plump hands or improve the appearance of recessed scars. Fillers should be applied in multiple layers, both deep and superficial, especially in the cheek area to lift the cheek and soften the smile lines.

Some patients choose fillers as an alternative to cosmetic surgery. Facial fillers are minimally invasive and can add volume, create angles and help minimize the appearance of aging.

Patients who use fillers may delay their need for surgery or refine the outcomes of surgery. Facial filler results are not permanent, but the longevity of the results can be 6 to 9 months or can last up to two years depending on the areas and type of filler.

Dr. Graivier’s Filler Techniques
Dr. Graivier has developed injection techniques that minimize pain, swelling and bruising and allow you to go out in most cases within 1 or 2 hours. Topical numbing agents are applied (no numbing injections are necessary). Lidocaine is incorporated in the filler products. The injections are easily tolerable, and his use of blunt cannulas, especially in the lips, tear trough of the eyes, and hands minimize the risks of bruising and swelling. You can put on some make up and are ready to go.

When to Consider Dermal Fillers

  • If you have deep lines around the eyes, brow or mouth
  • If you would like to change the contours of your jaw or lips

Dermal Fillers Complementary Procedures

It is a common practice for patients receiving dermal fillers to combine several procedures that will offer complementary or enhanced results. At The Graivier Center, we will take the time to walk potential patients through all of the risks and benefits of each procedure, whether you choose a single treatment or multiple treatments.

Patients receiving dermal fillers may elect to combine the following procedures for enhanced results:

Dermal Fillers Procedure

Dermal fillers are administered with a syringe to the areas the patient desires to correct.

The number, location and depth of the injections depend largely on the type of dermal fillers used and the desired results.

Some fillers contain a local anesthetic like lidocaine to enhance comfort during injection.

Numbing cream may also be used.

Patients may choose from several filler brand names. Each is specialized in its treatment modality.

  • Restylane® Family
  • Juvéderm®
  • Radiesse®
  • Sculptra® Aesthetic
  • BELOTERO BALANCE®
  • JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC
  • Bellafill®

The Restylane® family of products includes Restylane®, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Silk, Perlane®, and Perlane-L® and is used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. These products contain hyaluronic acid to give the skin a youthful fullness.

For patients over 21 years of age, Restylane®, Restylane-L® and Restylane Silk® may also be used for lip enhancement. Restylane Silk® may be used to treat lip lines.

Juvéderm®
Juvéderm® is the first and only non-surgical hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved to instantly smooth moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth (smiles lines and corner lines, vertical lip lines and marionette lines) for up to one year with optimal treatment.

Juvederm® contains a pain-numbing lidocaine anesthetic, which keeps patient discomfort at a minimum.

Radiesse®
A loss of collagen as we age and from sun damage can result in wrinkles, lines and loose skin. Radiesse® replenishes collagen in the skin to restore volume and smooth out those age-related lines and folds.

It can improve the appearance of smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (oral commissure), and sagging at the sides of the chin (“pre-jowl”) for up to one year after one treatment. Additionally, Radiesse® stimulates the body’s production of natural collagen to prolong results.

Radiesse® for Hands is a newly approved procedure that may improve the appearance of wrinkles, age spots and visible veins.

Sculptra® Aesthetic
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a new type of facial filler made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. Sculptra® replaces lost collagen over a series of three injections to help correct shallow-to-deep facial wrinkles and folds, chin wrinkles, sunken cheeks or hollows under the eyes.

Sculptra® Aesthetic is different because it gradually and subtly corrects these problems and results can last more than two years.

BELOTERO BALANCE®
BELOTERO BALANCE® is a hyaluronic acid injection that helps smooth moderate-to-severe etched-in facial lines and wrinkles. The advantage of BELOTERO BALANCE® is that it feels natural to the touch and maintains normal movement and facial expressions. This dermal filler is uniquely formulated for the under eyelid-tear trough area for a smooth natural look without the possibility of a bluish discoloration.

BELOTERO BALANCE® treats eyes, nasolabial folds, vertical lips lines, corner lines, smile lines and chin wrinkles.

In many cases, patients who request BELOTERO® treatment at The Graivier Center will also choose to add Botox® for facial wrinkle reduction, cheek fillers to enhance the “apples” of the face and liposuction of the neck to complete their youthful and rejuvenated facial look.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC
Voluma™ is the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid injectable gel to instantly add volume to the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults. It can give cheekbones a more prominent, sculpted contour and a subtle lift for up to two years.

Voluma™ is injected deep beneath the skin to create a noticeably smoother appearance to the skin and provide lift and more substantial definition to the facial structure.

Bellafill®
Bellafill® immediately restores volume to the skin to lift smile lines and treat moderate to severe, pitted facial acne scars. Bellafill® requires a skin test to identify patients who may be allergic to the lidocaine or collagen in the product.

In addition, Bellafill® re-creates the firm structure of younger-looking skin by supporting production of your body’s own collagen. The injection immediately adds volume below pitted acne scars to lift to the level of the surrounding skin for a smoother appearance.

Dermal Fillers Recovery
Dermal fillers have no downtime. While you can resume most activities right away, Dr. Graivier suggests taking it slow for 24 hours. It is recommended that patients avoid touching the treatment area for six hours following treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin while the area is numb.

Your initial appearance after treatment with any dermal filler may include:

  • An “over-filled” appearance to treated areas
  • Mild swelling or bruising
  • Temporary numbness or redness

These conditions may be alleviated with topical icing and will improve within a matter of hours or just a few days.

Make sure to protect the treated area from exposure to intense heat, tanning beds or excessive sun exposure.
