Male Breast Tissue Removal in Alpharetta, GA

Gynecomastia is a condition of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men that can occur at any age. These changes can be due to heredity, obesity, hormonal changes or certain drug use. Gynecomastia can cause discomfort and loss of self-confidence and can even lead to withdrawal from certain activities and intimacy. Male breast reduction surgery is the answer.

Male Breast Reduction Consultation
At The Graivier Center, we value our personal relationships with our patients. Each patient is treated as an individual, and as such, is given a personal consultation prior to any treatment. Dr. Graivier and his staff will meet with you to help you make decisions regarding which procedure(s) or treatment(s) will result in achieving your aesthetic goals. The consultation will conclude with a discussion about the desired treatment, your expectations, the benefits and risks associated with the treatment and post-treatment recovery.

Male Breast Reduction Complementary Procedures
It is a common practice for patients undergoing male breast reduction surgery to combine several procedures at once that will offer complementary or enhanced results. At The Graivier Center, we will take the time to walk potential patients through all of the risks and benefits of each surgery, whether you choose a single treatment or multiple treatments.

Patients undergoing male breast reduction surgery can elect to combine the following procedures for enhanced results:

  • Liposuction
  • Body conturing

Male Breast Reduction Surgery
The desired outcome from this procedure is to restore a normal breast contour and correct any abnormalities of the breast, nipple or areola.

Options to treat gynecomastia include: liposuction, breast reduction surgery or a combination of the two.

If your gynecomastia is primarily caused by fatty tissue, Dr. Graivier may recommend a liposuction procedure. Liposuction surgery can actually remove unwanted localized deposits of fat cells from the body. The result is a re-sculpting of bulging breasts into male contours.

If your gynecomastia is the result of a glandular disorder, liposuction alone will not be adequate. Traditional surgical excision may be a better option. The excision may be performed alone or in conjunction with liposuction. Typically, the incision is placed on the edge of the areola or in the underarm area. Dr. Graivier will work through these incisions to cut away the excess glandular tissue, fat and skin from the breast.

Male Breast Reduction Recovery
The surgery is done as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia and you will return home the same day. The procedure may last from one to three hours depending on the corrections needed. Most men do not experience much pain or discomfort post surgery and return to normal actives within one to two weeks. It will be necessary to wear a tight compressive garment at all times for the first two to three weeks post surgery.
