Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Alpharetta, GA

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a painless procedure that exposes your body to high levels of oxygen in an environment with increased pressure, thus allowing greater absorption of oxygen throughout your body’s tissues. This medical treatment enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of 90-97 percent oxygen in a total body chamber.

Benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy include enhanced and accelerated healing from surgery, sports or other injuries, prevention of damaged tissue, and reduction of the effects of environmental toxins.

Issues You Can Treat With Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

Hyperbaric oxygen treatment can be used to treat a range of serious issues including decompression sickness, air bubbles in your blood, or wounds from radiation or diabetes. This treatment can also help with the following issues:

  • Iron deficiency
  • Abscesses in your brain tissue
  • Burns
  • Carbon dioxide exposure
  • Crushing injuries
  • Tissue infections such as gangrene
  • Injuries from radiation

However, this treatment doesn’t just have to be reserved for serious issues. You can also use it to promote healing or wellness at any time.

While there currently aren’t a lot of scientific studies to back up how hyperbaric oxygen treatment helps the following issues, patients report that they feel relief when using this treatment for some of the following issues:

  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Soft tissue injury recovery
  • Allergies
  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Cerebral palsy, bell’s palsy, and other conditions that include permanent or temporary paralysis
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Heart disease
  • Migraines
  • Sports injuries
  • AIDS/HIV or other conditions that compromise your immune system

The Process

At The Graivier Center, we offer oxygen therapy using a spacious medical-grade hard shell chamber designed for comfort and relaxation during treatment. The OxyPro Genesis features an upright walk in design with comfortable seating and room to relax throughout your session, along with integrated red-light therapy for an added wellness and recovery experience.

During treatment, the chamber is gradually pressurized while you breathe concentrated oxygen. Some patients notice mild pressure in their ears, similar to what you may feel during air travel or driving through the mountains. Swallowing or yawning typically helps relieve this sensation as your ears adjust naturally.

Many patients use hyperbaric therapy as part of their wellness, recovery, or post procedure routine and enjoy the calming environment during sessions. Once treatment is complete, you may return to normal daily activities immediately afterward. Some patients report feeling especially relaxed or hungry following treatment.

Safety & Considerations

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally well tolerated when performed under proper supervision. As with any wellness or medical treatment, certain risks and contraindications exist.
Potential side effects may include:
  • Ear or sinus pressure/discomfort
  • Temporary fatigue or lightheadedness
  • Claustrophobia or anxiety in enclosed spaces
  • Temporary vision changes with repeated sessions

This treatment may not be appropriate for individuals with certain lung conditions, uncontrolled seizures, active respiratory infections, or untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung).

All patients are screened prior to treatment to help ensure safety and candidacy.
